FAUST MASSAGE THERAPY
Frequently Asked Questions
Faust Massage Therapy FAQs – Find answers to common questions about our services, policies, and what to expect during your massage session.
01.
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage is a full-body technique designed to promote deep relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (the part of your nervous system that helps you relax, recover, and feel calm). It helps release muscle tension, improve circulation, and boost your mood. Sessions involve smooth, gliding strokes using oil or lotion, with clients starting face up or down and turning midway. You’ll remain draped throughout, with only the area being treated uncovered. Swedish Massage supports relaxation, enhances circulation, and may help ease anxiety and depression.
02.
What is Therapeutic Massage?
Therapeutic Massage (also known as Deep Tissue Massage) focuses on relieving pain, reducing stress, and addressing specific problem areas like tight shoulders or back tension. It improves circulation, breaks down muscle adhesions (knots), and promotes healing. Techniques may include deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, stretching, or a combination tailored to your needs.
03.
What should I expect for my first massage?
For your first session, you’ll complete an intake form asking about your contact details, health history, and areas to focus on. You’ll have privacy to undress to your comfort level, and I’ll ensure proper draping (covered by a sheet) throughout. The massage will begin with your back, neck, and shoulders, but I can focus on any specific areas you need. Afterward, I recommend drinking water, resting, and practicing self-care. Massage should feel relaxing; if you ever feel discomfort, please let me know, and I’ll adjust the pressure. Hygiene and a relaxed, open mind are encouraged, and gratuity is always appreciated.

What are your credentials?
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)—a designation that reflects extensive education, training, and dedication to the field. To earn this license, a massage therapist must graduate from an accredited program, pass the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx), clear a background check, and maintain good standing with their state licensing board (TDLR in Texas, CAMTC in California). Continuing education is also required to stay current with best practices and advancements in care.
My Education
I’m proud to have graduated with honors from the Avalon School of Massage in Houston, Texas. After completing the program, I was invited to join Avalon’s faculty, where I taught courses in Pathology, Health & Hygiene, and Swedish Massage.
Certifications
To expand my skills and better serve clients, I’ve pursued additional training in Cupping, Gua Sha, Reflexology, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. I’m also a certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor with the American Red Cross, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

What is Gua Sha Therapy?
Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique that uses a smooth-edged tool—mine are polished stainless steel—to gently glide across the skin. This method helps stimulate circulation, reduce muscle tension, and encourage lymphatic drainage (helping your body clear out waste and toxins). While the pressure is firm, the technique is relaxing and therapeutic, making it an excellent addition to massage for relieving tightness and promoting natural healing. Gua Sha may leave temporary redness or slight marks as a normal part of the process, signaling increased blood flow to the area.
What is Cupping?
Cupping therapy is an ancient healing practice that uses special cups—usually made of glass, silicone, or plastic (I use silicone)—to create gentle suction on the skin. This suction helps to increase blood flow, loosen tight muscles, and support the body’s natural detoxification process (helping your body release built-up tension and waste). The cups are typically left in place for a few minutes or moved along the muscles in a gliding motion, depending on your needs. While it’s a deeply relaxing experience, it’s normal for cupping to leave circular marks that fade within a few days—these are simply signs of improved circulation and tension release.
How do I add elevations to my massage session?
If you’d like to add enhancements such as Cupping, Gua Sha or other elevations, simply let me know when I confirm your appointment.
What are my choices for Aromatherapy?
I typically carry lavender, eucalyptus, and lemon essential oils.
Do you offer CBD?
Yes, I can add CBD as an elevation for an additional $50.
CBD (cannabidiol) massage oil is infused with hemp-derived CBD, a non-psychoactive compound known for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. When applied topically during a massage, it can help reduce muscle tension, soothe sore joints, and promote overall relaxation. It’s especially beneficial for clients dealing with chronic pain, inflammation, or stress-related tension.
Please note: CBD massage oil does not contain THC and will not cause any psychoactive effects.
Services
How to I book an appointment?
Book online at https://booking.appointy.com/FaustMassage or send us a message through our contact form.
What is Mobile Massage
Mobile massage means I come to you—at your home or location—so you can enjoy a luxury spa experience without leaving the house.
Can I come to you?
Unfortunately, no—I don’t currently have a studio space. I used to offer sessions at my home, but due to pets and family responsibilities, that’s no longer practical. I now offer exclusively out-call services, meaning I come to you.
Should I tip?
Gratuity is always appreciated. Most clients tip between 18-25%, similar to what you would tip a server at a restaurant or your hairstylist. Your generosity helps support my ability to continue providing quality service.
Do you accommodate last-minute appointments?
Last-minute and same-day appointments can be challenging to accommodate. As a graduate student, my schedule is carefully structured, and I typically require at least 24 hours’ notice for massage bookings. Additionally, as a mobile therapist, I must account for factors such as travel time, distance, and traffic when planning appointments. I appreciate your understanding and encourage you to book in advance whenever possible.
Do you accommodate after-hours appointments?
In general, I do not offer appointments outside of regular business hours. However, under special circumstances, I may consider after-hours sessions for established clients, depending on my personal schedule. If you have a specific need, please don’t hesitate to inquire.
Do you offer couples massage?
At this time, I don’t offer couples massage. As a solo practitioner, I focus on providing personalized, one-on-one massage sessions to ensure the best experience for each client.
Do you offer prenatal massage?
Yes, I’m pleased to offer prenatal massage services and am equipped to provide comfortable side-lying positions for your relaxation and safety. I’ve had the privilege of helping many mothers-to-be throughout their pregnancy, and I’m here to ensure you feel cared for and comfortable throughout your session. I do ask that you provide several bed pillows/ body pillow for the session.
Do you offer hot stone massage?
At this time, I don’t offer hot stone massage. While hot basalt stones are known for their soothing effects, I’ve found that the stones can be cumbersome to work with and the heat doesn’t last long enough to provide the full benefits. However, I’d be happy to discuss other techniques and modalities that can offer a similar relaxing and rejuvenating experience tailored to your needs.
What kind of massage oil or lotion do you use?
I use organic, fractionated coconut oil for all massage sessions. It’s a light, non-greasy oil that absorbs quickly into the skin. Rich in antioxidants, it has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, making it great for nourishing and protecting your skin during the massage.
Will you use my personal massage oil or lotion?
For quality assurance and safety reasons, I use my own professional-grade products during sessions. This helps ensure consistent results and minimizes the risk of allergic reactions or product interactions. I appreciate your understanding!
Do you offer Lymphatic Drainage massage?
Yes, I offer lymphatic drainage massage and am fully certified in the technique.
I encourage clients to learn about what lymphatic drainage is and understand its benefits before booking a session. It’s not a traditional massage in the way most people expect—there’s no deep pressure or kneading. Instead, lymphatic drainage involves very light, slow movements—similar to gently gliding a dime across the skin. This technique helps stimulate the lymphatic system to support detoxification and reduce swelling.
Health & Wellness
Will I be "cured" after my massage?
Massage is not a cure for medical conditions or a one-time solution for lasting relief. However, it does activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps manage stress, tension, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. While a single session can provide immediate benefits, regular massage (every 2-4 weeks) supports long-term muscle relaxation, injury prevention, and stress relief. It can also aid in faster recovery from exercise or sports.
What happens if I fall asleep (or snore, or drool)?
It’s completely normal to fall asleep during your massage—that’s a sign you’re truly relaxing and feeling at ease. If you happen to snore or drool, don’t worry at all! It’s just part of the process, and I’m here to make sure you feel comfortable throughout your session.
What if I need to go to the restroom?
No problem at all! Just let me know, and we’ll take a quick break. There’s no need to hold it—your comfort is my priority.
What if I get an erection?
It’s completely normal and can happen as a natural reflex during a massage. There’s no need to feel embarrassed—it’s perfectly fine. Just relax, and I’ll keep focusing on your comfort and well-being.
What if I'm sick?
If you’re feeling sick, please reschedule your massage. If you have a cold, fever, or anything contagious, it’s best to wait until you’re fully recovered and no longer contagious before booking a session. Your health and well-being are important, and I want to make sure you’re comfortable and safe during your visit.
What if I have a rash, wart, or other skin issue?
Please let me know if you have any skin conditions like a rash or wart. There’s no judgment here, but we may need to avoid certain areas to prevent irritation or the spread of infection. Your comfort and safety are my top priority, and I’ll work with you to ensure a great experience.
What if I get hot or cold?
If you start to feel hot, just let me know, and I can remove the blanket for you. You’ll always be covered by the top sheet, but I can expose your feet for ventilation. If you feel cold, I can add extra layers to your draping to keep you warm and comfortable.
